还记得那位说过“我不认为工作就是工作，玩就是玩。这些都是生活。”的理查德•布兰森(Richard Branson)吗？。就在两天内，他同时宣布了两项新计划：成立Virgin（维珍）航天公司，以及建立维珍音乐在线服务。
维珍航天服务(VSS)，终于让两个投资“怪人”走到了一起，保罗•艾伦的梦想投资策略和理查德•布兰森的新奇经营法则有了一次融合的机会。根据合作计划，未来几年，艾伦投资的Mohave Aerospace Ventures将在Burt Rutan 设计的Spaceshipone 的基础上专门为维珍定制航天器，并在2007年进行商业运营，预计在前五年可以发送3000人到太空。这一次可真算是商业、科技和人类想象的新挑战，不知道百战百胜的布兰森是否能够创造新的商业奇迹，至少有人第一次给大众带来了飞天的期待。
至于音乐在线服务，看不出他会有什么不同的招数。Apple, MSN, Real, Yahoo等等已经尽数登场，维珍缺少技术的优势，估计也只能算是Virgin Megastore的服务延伸了。

“Eat your own dogfood”， 我在IsaAcumox 那段时间曾经具体解释过：
当我们创造了一件新事物，如果自己不去尝试使用，不会有人买我们的帐。所以我经常会去看看 是否师范学校自己运用了教育理论，上市公司员工是否购买自己的股票，软件公司是否使用自己的软件，饭店是否吃自己做的饭菜……用俗话说，是 “Eat Your Own Dogfood”—–[IsaAcumox]
可惜的相比“石头汤”，“品尝自己做的狗粮”显然缺少故事情节，所以也就没有那么远的流传。
这几天时不时提到这句话，是因为应用情景太多。一家公司开发某种社会性软件，公司的创始人竟然在其中没有注册用户；另一个公司也差不多，自己开发销售管理软件，却没有人在销售的时候使用；恰好也在AlwaysOn Network上看到Ziv Navoth 也写了”Eat Your Own Dogfood“，相比于飞机制造，其实微软公司内部开发新的软件，始终在遵循“品尝自己做的狗粮”原则。至少每次新软件推出之前，内部的员工很早就已经在使用Beta或者RC版本了。回忆起来，这句话最早还真的是从微软公司听来的。
