M$’s bloglines

I just tested Microsoft’ online RSS aggregator, started at start.com. Slow and no fun. Microsft still repeats it’s old model of software market strategy, copy but no innovation.

Though they have employed a lot of javascript code in this online aggregator to make it more accessible and ease of use. I can’t actually accept the other functions I guess the next step is to integrate this service with their MSN Spaces service. The world of blogosphere in Microsoft’s eyes will thus become more and more close. Just like other paradoxes we talked between centralization and decentralization, i’m afraid MS is losing and will lose this game eventually. Too early to conclude? Maybe….

别忘了,DIY就是LBD(Learning By Doing)。

这是个BHAG(Big Hairy Audacious Goal),虽然还有很多社会性因素远远超过技术的可行性,但是值得为其中的可行性而努力。

Talks with Rebecca

Rebecca asked me several questions on recent event about BBS and web site registration by China government. She posted it the script on the Global Voices blog. Hopefully, more oversea’s bloggers can understand the situation of Chinese bloggers from the short coversation.

In a small seminar yesterday in Shanghai Normal University. I was invited to talk to dozens of educational bloggers. I encouraged them to make more communication with bloggers around the world that they can learn more, know more and do more from global collaboration. Actually, educational bloggers are a big part of the whole blogosphere in China. We should pay attention and do more support to such group in the future.

Our non-profit organization, Social Brain Foundation(SBF), is working on serveral frontiers to improve grassroots culture in China. The educational web site, oedu.org, is also a project supported by SBF.
