How to view Google Video locally in China

Google Video service is not open accessed in China for some reasons(Not GFW issue). So if you are in China to visit Google Video site, I’d suggest that you can take advantages of Tor to view video clips in Google with the following steps:

0. Setup Tor on your machine and download Google Video Player. Set Tor as proxy for Google Video Player(localhost:8118).

1. You can search Google Video to find what you want to view and get the id of the video, e.g. 6672770494265798071. (You will see “Thanks for your interest in Google Video.Currently, the playback feature of Google Video isn’t available in your country. We hope to make this feature available more widely in the future, and we really appreciate your patience. ” when you are in China)

2.Change the brower url to http://video.google.com/videogvp/CompetingandCollabor.gvp?docid=6672770494265798071(change the id whenever you get a new search), it will prompt you download a file and open it with Google Video Player, accept it and Google Video Player will open locally to download the video automatcially, you can also enjoy the video while it’s downloading.

All the downloaded video clips can be replayed forever.

Excellent tip. You can also use a Tor workaround for uploading to Google Video from in China. Just make sure that your global proxy settings are set to use Tor. How do you do that? Check out http://tor.eff.org for more details.
